Radiotherapy helped an 83 years old to recover from Cancer

Udaipur : Geetanjali Medical College & Hosptial’s Radiation Oncologists Dr. Ramesh Purohit & Dr. Kiran Chigurupalli have successfully performed the radio-therapy for central arch cancer recently. The surgery was done on an 83 years old male hailing from Sirohi district, who was suffering from third stage cancer of the central arch (the cancer of lower jaws) which is usually treated by surgery. Since, the age of patient & general medical conditions were inappropriate so surgery was avoided. The radiation therapy lasted continuous one-an-a-half months thereby helping the doctors treat the cancer. The patient recovered really well and is disease free now. The patient is fine and is talking fearlessly; eating good food with his mouth opening in the usual was it should. The surgery complications were totally avoided.

“As the prescribed treatment for central arch cancer is surgery, which is very complicated, was avoided intentionally. The lower jaws are removed completely, which makes the face hanged on one side. Also, the patient’s face is never the same as before. He is unable to eat his food & talk properly. But on the contrary, the treatment through radio therapy was really good making the patient recovered very well,” said Dr. Purohit.

Dr. Purohit also said that, “Treatment of cancer through radio therapy is also very effective. It has many treatment options available and is safe.”

Achalaram Ji, age 83 years found some swelling and wounds around his lips. On a routine consultation at a nearby hospital, the investigations confirmed the third stage cancer of central arch. To which for further better treatment he was referred to Geetanjali Cancer Center. Consultation from Dr. Ramesh Purohit & treatment through radio therapy helped him survive from such critical cancer. Tobacco consumption for long made this cancer happen.

Also it was the patient’s will power and motivation to stay fit and recover from such a disease. The patient was treated free under the flagship scheme of Rajasthan Government’s Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana (BSBY).
